Bringing Back Black Money

The Govt’s commitment to fight black money is evident from the fact that one of the first decisions it took was to constitute a SIT against Black Money.

“By minimizing the scope for corruption, we will ensure minimization of the generation of black money. BJP is committed to initiate the process of tracking down and bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks and offshore accounts. We will set up a Task Force for this purpose. The process of bringing back black money to India what belongs to India, will be put in motion on priority.”

The above lines are taken straight from the BJP Manifesto. Straight after forming the Government, Shri Narendra Modi translated BJP Manifesto’s promises into action. A decision was taken to constitute a Special Investigative Team (SIT) in the first Cabinet meeting held at 27th May itself. This not only demonstrates Shri Modi’s commitment to implement the BJP Manifesto, but also his resolve to curb the menace of black money in India.

The SIT aims to prepare a comprehensive action plan including creation of necessary institutional structure that could enable the country to fight the battle against unaccounted money. The SIT will report to the Hon’ble Supreme Court from time to time. Recently news articles reported that the Hon’ble Supreme Court is satisfied with the progress made by the SIT.

This goes to show how much can be done & achieved in a short span of time if there is political will power to actually do things.
