Since assuming the post of Prime Minister, Shri Modi has made multiple small yet meaningful improvements to enhance co-operation & productivity of government servants while rekindling the spirit of team spirit. Known for his innovative & out of the box approach, the Prime Minister unveiled a 10 point framework for good governance & Ministers were also asked to prepare a 100-day blueprint for the work of their Ministries.
The Prime Minister also met a large group of Secretaries to the Government of India. News reports suggest that such a meeting was held after a long gap of 8 years but for Narendra Modi such meetings are nothing new.
For over 2 hours the Prime Minister heard the views of the Secretaries. In his talk he asked them to simplify administrative processes and make the government people friendly. He also talked about institutionalizing processes that can last longer than individuals so that better results are given. At the same time he emphasized on the 2 Ts of teamwork and technology that can address grievances of the people. The PM also told the officials that the way ahead lies in coordination and not confrontation.
Another area where the PM focused is cleanliness of work spaces. Never before was such importance given to a less-noticed but important matter like cleanliness. Due to the PM’s thrust on cleanliness, tones of waste would have been cleared, leaving the Govt employees with a better work place, while breaking the stereo type of a Govt office in the people’s minds.
